| ON THE ROAD AGAIN - Tips for a raw foodist traveler - Traveling can be challenging for even the least discerning eater. Raw foodists, often being among the most discerning, can be daunted by the idea of a trip away from the comforts of their own refridgerator. The Ideal trip where healthful food is concerned, will have you staying in one place, with access to refridgerator, in a town with great organic health food stores and raw restaurants, and surrounded by companions with similar food preferences. The best places on earth are however often remote and uncivilized and with little infrastructure. In short, you may not have any aforementioned luxuries (or so they will seem once you are without them). A little preparation goes a long way towards ensuring that your meals are tasty, balanced, and satysfying. Think carefully about the specifics of your trip and plan accordingly. Here's helpful advice from our own travels. Consider packing these foods: NORI SHEETS - a sheet of nori can instantly turn any salad into a wrap. SEA SALT - a small container of sea salt is great to use iodized table salt to your food. MUNCHIES - nuts, seeds, homemade or packaged raw snacks, crackers or trail mixes, raw protein bars, raw chocolate bars and dried fruit are great on-the-road staples. You can make your own superfood/ protein ball truffles. GOJI BERRIES - help to protect your body against the effects of radiation exposure from flying SALAD IMPROVERS - raw olives, whole-leaf dulse and cold-pressed olive oil (packed in travel size containers) can quickly convert a bag of organic greens into a delicious salad. GREEN/SUPERFOOD POWDER - pour green powder directly into a bottle of fresh-squeezed orange juice, coconut water or water. This simple mixture can supply concentrated vitamins and minerals when you haven't been eating the most nutritious foods, supply extra energy while you are on the go, and even replace a meal in a pinch. Bring one, powerful enough to combat jet lag or make up for a bad night's sleep on an inflatable bed. Pack the single serving pouches. Consider packing these RAWvolution foods: Apple Bread, Apple Cinnamon Raisin Cookies, RAWvolution's Bagels, Blue Corn Chips, RAWvolution's Famous Onion Bread, Cheese Stuffed Jalapenos, Coconut Jerky, Flax Crackers, Rosemary Crackers, Savory or Cheesy Kale Chips. Other Tips: Boost your immune system before you go by eating raw organic foods and drinking plenty of pressed vegetable juices If you fly at night, you can reduce your radiation risk by 99% because nearly all of the raditation from the sun is being blocked by the earth (Dr. Joseph Mercola, 2010) After a flight, be sure to reset your circadian clock by grounding your body to the earth. Go to the nearest park or outdoor space and sit at the foot of a tree or stand barefoot on the grass, close your eyes, and relax. Pack a Blender Bottle, this handy portable container for mixing liquids with powders while on the go. Research raw, organic and vegetarian restaurants before you leave for your trip - you may be surprised at how many there are throughout the country! Plus you will most likely make a like-minded friends at these local health hubs. LOVEBUG & ME FAMILY MUSIC PARTY! Fun musical event for the whole family!
